ABA VETERANS LEGAL ASSISTANCE GRANT
The ABA Military and Veterans Legal Center (MVLC) created the competitive ABA Veterans Legal Assistance Grant available to state and local programs, so they can increase effective legal support and better meet the legal needs of underserved veteran populations within their communities.
In 2020, the MVLC accepted grant applications from nonprofit organizations with projects based in Georgia that delivers legal services to veterans primarily in Georgia. Up to three organizations could receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $40,000. The Request for Proposals explains who were eligible to apply and the grant's primary objectives.
The following are the 2020 grant recipients:
- Atlanta Legal Aid Society, in partnership with the Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans ($40,000)
- Georgia Legal Services Program, in partnership with the University of Georgia’s Veterans Legal Clinic ($35,000)
- The Warrior Alliance ($25,000)
