ABA VETERANS LEGAL ASSISTANCE GRANT

The ABA Military and Veterans Legal Center (MVLC) created the competitive ABA Veterans Legal Assistance Grant available to state and local programs, so they can increase effective legal support and better meet the legal needs of underserved veteran populations within their communities.

In 2022, the MVLC accepted grant applications from nonprofit organizations with projects based in California that deliver legal services to veterans primarily in California. The following are the 2022 grant recipients:

  1. Public Counsel ($35,000)
  2. Swords to Plowshares ($35,000)
  3. Community Veteran Justice Project ($30,000)

Previous Grant Recipients:

In 2021, the MVLC accepted grant applications from nonprofit organizations with projects based in Texas that deliver legal services to veterans primarily in Texas. The following were the 2021 grant recipients:

  1. Metroplex Military Charitable Trust ($40,000)
  2. San Antonio Legal Services Association ($40,000)
  3. Houston Volunteer Lawyers ($20,000)

In 2020, the MVLC accepted grant applications from nonprofit organizations with projects based in Georgia that deliver legal services to veterans primarily in Georgia. The following were the 2020 grant recipients:

  1. Atlanta Legal Aid Society, in partnership with the Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans ($40,000)
  2. Georgia Legal Services Program, in partnership with the University of Georgia’s Veterans Legal Clinic ($35,000)
  3. The Warrior Alliance ($25,000)
