Attorneys can register to volunteer time to receive calls or emails from military attorneys in need of attorney-to-attorney advice on state-specific legal topics relating to your legal area of expertise, so they can better assist their servicemember clients.
This is a virtual legal advice portal where income-eligible individuals can ask civil legal questions. On the ABA Free Legal Answers’ federal site, attorneys with VA accreditation can sign up to volunteer to answer veterans’ questions about VA benefits, discharge upgrades, and similar veterans’ legal issues. To answer state-specific legal questions, such as a family law or housing question, visit the main ABA Free Legal Answers website and separately sign up with your state.
Attorneys may ask to join the ABA Military and Veterans Legal Center Listserv, which is open to legal professionals involved with military and veteran legal services to provide updates, share information, discuss, network, and collaborate.
Submit case referrals for financially eligible servicemember clients to the ABA Military Pro Bono Project, which makes every available effort to place the cases with qualified volunteer attorneys.
Contact civilian attorneys registered with Operation Stand-By, via phone or email, with legal questions relating to their geographic areas and substantive areas of expertise for attorney-to-attorney advice, so you can further assist your servicemember clients.
