Denise Dempsey joined the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar as its Director of Section Operations in February. Her responsibilities include overseeing the budget, finances, ABA approval functions, and managing internal processes and structures.
Before returning to the ABA and joining the Section, Denise worked for two and a half years at the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI). As PILI’s Senior Manager for Operations & Administration, she was responsible for the organization’s financial management and development, operations and administration, and human resources. Denise previously worked at the ABA for over 14 years, serving as the Director of the Section Officers Conference. She also managed the ABA’s Task Force on Legal Issues Arising from the Coronavirus Pandemic, chaired by James J. Sandman, President Emeritus of the Legal Services Corporation. Prior to that, she was a staff member with the ABA’s Judicial Division.
Denise earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a concentration in International Law and a minor in Italian from DePaul University.
In her spare time, Denise enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and trying out new restaurants.
