Bereavement Notice for Edward N. Tucker

Section leader, Edward N. Tucker, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 83.

Mr. Tucker served the American Bar Association from 2001-2017, first serving on the Section’s Accreditation Committee from 2001-2007, then as the Public Member on the Section’s Council from 2008-2017 including serving as Secretary. In 2017, he was honored with the Robert J. Kutak Award "for his significant contributions to the collaboration of the Academy, the Bench, and the Bar."

In nominating Mr. Tucker for the award, past Council member Jim Hanks stated: “I served with Ed on the Accreditation Committee and have served with him for the past three years on the Council. Ed has brought to all of these assignments a distinct and sophisticated business perspective, especially in financial matters. Without contrivance or artifice, avoiding the shallow arts of showmanship, Ed expresses himself with calmness, respect for others and supreme rationality, often illuminating some neglected point. Ed is widely recognized by his colleagues in the Section as having been a steadying influence on the work of the Council for many years.”

Jeffrey Lewis, past chair of the Kutak Award Committee, echoed Mr. Hanks remarks: “Ed Tucker’s contributions to the work of the Section have been substantial; they flow from the wise counsel of a man steeped in 50 years of finance and accounting. It has been a delight and privilege to serve with Ed on the Council. This well-deserved honor is also important recognition of the work of a public member on behalf of the Accreditation Project.”
