Council and Kutak Awards

The Section recognized its outgoing Council members and the 2023 Kutak Award recipient at its Council and Kutak Award Reception held on May 11^th in Chicago. Several Council members, noted below, will be concluding their service on the Council. Additionally, the Section honored 2023 Kutak Award Recipient Diane F. Bosse.

Terms on the Council are concluding in August for the following: Andrew Crane (law student), Craig Boise, Joan Howland (Delegate), Leo Martinez, Mary McQueen, and Honorable Phyllis Thompson. Joseph West also concludes his term as Chair.

Upcoming Programs

The Section looks forward to the many workshops, conferences, and programs it will offer over the next several months including the New Deans’ Workshop, Deans’ Workshop, Associate Deans Conference, Annual Questionnaire Training, and Site Evaluation Workshop.

Additionally, the Section will present a complimentary webinar on June 28. Patricia Salkin, Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs Provost, Graduate and Professional Divisions at Touro University will lead a panel featuring law deans who have become presidents as they discuss the professional development pathway to becoming president.

The Section will also present a complimentary program on law student debt during the ABA’s Annual Meeting. The program, presented in collaboration with the ABA Law Student Division and Young Lawyers Division, will be held on Thursday, August 3.
