Annual Questionnaire and Self Study Training Workshop
The Section held its Annual Questionnaire and Self Study Training Workshop on Friday, July 8 in Chicago. With over 120 attendees, the Workshop covered topics including the Section’s history, Department of Education requirements, administrative functionality and responsibilities for the questionnaires, changes to the questionnaires, and reporting. The Workshop also included a demo on how to utilize the site visit tracking dashboard.
New Deans’ Workshop, Deans’ Workshop, and Law School Development Conference
The Section held its workshops for New Deans and Deans, along with its Law School Development Conference, the week of July 18-23 at the Marriott St. Louis Grand in St. Louis, MO. With over 150 attendees throughout the week, these events gave law school deans and their development teams opportunities to network, learn, and share. The New Deans’ Workshop focused on topics including leadership and management, fundraising, budgeting, and DEI, to name a few.
Attendees at the Deans’ Workshop had the opportunity to hear Keynote Speaker Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., President and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management, discuss the importance of rebuilding community. Other session discussions centered around topics including faculty challenges, stress management, staffing issues, and understanding and addressing students.
The Law School Development Conference featured a Keynote Address by Jeff Hilperts, Senior Vice President of Philanthropic Counsel at BWF, that focused on the shifting landscape of philanthropy. Other sessions addressed the challenges faced and lessons learned from the pandemic; engaging, cultivating, and raising money from diverse alumni; major gifts; social media campaigns; campaign metrics; stewardship; building an advancement team; university relationships, and harnessing the power of volunteers.
