    Affiliate Organizations

    The Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association (the “Council”) engages with Affiliate Organizations to further collaboration and inclusion and to exchange valuable resources and information among key stakeholders in legal education and the legal profession.

    American Association of Law Libraries (AALL)
    Association of American Law Schools (AALS)
    AALS Deans Steering Committee
    Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD)
    Clinical Legal Education Association (CLEA)
    Law School Admission Council (LSAC)
    National Association for Law Placement (NALP)
    National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE)
    Society of American Law Teachers (SALT)

    Qualifications of Affiliate Organizations

    • Represents law schools or key law school stakeholders, legal education, or the legal profession;
    • Provides services or support to legal education, law students, or law graduates;
    •  Represents mission/goals of its own organization that serve legal education more broadly;
    • Able to provide relevant  information and perspectives to inform Council decisions; and
    • Possesses non-profit organization status.

    Responsibilities of Affiliate Organizations

    • Provide written updates to the Council twice a year.
    • Participate in Council meetings, roundtables, advisory groups, notice and comment process, and provide other input as requested.
    • Collaborate and participate in programs and other Section initiatives, and volunteer for site visits as needed.
    • Attend Council meeting open sessions and related community-building events (e.g., lunch, dinner). Each organization is invited to participate in the community-building events twice per year.

    Organizations Seeking Affiliate Organization Status

    Organizations meeting the qualifications above can apply for Affiliate Organization status for consideration by the Council for approval. Applications must be received via the survey below at least 30 days prior to a scheduled Council meeting (February, May, August, and November of each year).
