Dan in a partner with Shipman & Goodwin LLP in Connecticut where he practices employment law. He previously served as Connecticut’s State Delegate in the ABA House of Delegates. He is past-Chair of the Technology and Communications Committee and served on the ABA Nominating Committee. He is a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Continuing Legal Education and a past member of the Standing Committee on Technology & Information Systems. He is also a past member of the ABA Presidential Appointment committee and a former Director in the Young Lawyers Division. In Connecticut, he is the Past Chair of the Connecticut Bar Foundation Fellows and a member of several committees with the Connecticut Bar Association. In 2022, he received the John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award from the CBA.

Dan has published the Connecticut Employment Law Blog for nearly 15 years, one of the most widely read and acclaimed legal blogs in the country. In 2014, the blog was named to the ABA Journal “Blawg Hall of Fame” and in 2013 was selected by the U.S. Library of Congress for inclusion in its historic collection of internet materials. Dan was also named a “Legal Rebel” by the ABA Journal. He is past president of the Golf Club of Avon, and active with Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation and other notable civic organizations.

Dan is married to Carol Shubinski and they have three children. Dan enjoys trivia and participates in the “Learned League” trivia league and once appeared on the game show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” with Regis Philbin. He currently enjoys skiing, golfing, and grilling though he confesses he is mediocre at best with all.
