Maureen is the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at Boston University, a position she assumed after 14 years of service as Dean (2006-18) or Interim Dean (2004-06) of Boston University School of Law where she is currently Dean emerita and Professor of Law. She is a long-time member of the American Bar Association and served as Chair of the Council of the Section of Legal Education & Admissions to the Bar (the accrediting agency for U.S. law schools).
Maureen was recognized in the past by the National Jurist as one of the top 25 most influential people in legal education. She has received a Diversity Leadership “Giving Back” Award from INSIGHT into Diversity as well as the Thomas Addis Emmet Award From the Irish Legal 100. Boston University recognized her teaching with its highest teaching award.
Maureen serves on the Board of Directors of AccessLex Institute, an organization dedicated to using data-driven research to improve legal education. She is also a trustee at her alma mater, Marist College. During her career, Maureen has authored a number of articles on intellectual property law and is a co-author of the casebook Copyright in a Global Information Economy, published by Wolters Kluwer. She continues to teach Secured Transactions.
