Katie has been active in women’s organizations throughout the ABA and the profession her entire career. She has served a number of roles within the Commission on Women in the Profession starting as a liaison from Ms. JD in 2011, serving as a Commissioner during the 2017-2020 bar years and co-chairing a number of Commission projects including the Commission’s Grit Project, Men in the Mix Program, and the Margaret Brent Awards. During the 2012 bar year, Katie served as the Social Media Co-Chair for President Laurel Bellow’s Gender Equity Task Force. She has also been active in the Section of Antitrust law where she has been a volunteer for the Section’s Connect and Women.Connected organizations.

Outside of the ABA, Katie has served on the board of California’s First District Appellate Project since 2017 and on the Executive Committee since 2021. She also serves on the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession’s Advisory Board after founding and chairing the initial class of IILP’s Social Impact Incubator in 2017. From 2011-2016, Katie was the President of Ms. JD where today she continues to serve as Board Emeritae. In 2014, Ms. JD was inducted into the ABA Blawg Hall of Fame 2014.

She is married to Jono, a joint New Zealand/U.S. citizen and strategist at Google. They have two children under five and (in non-COVID times) are avid travelers.
