Grant is a Shareholder at O'Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong & Laing S.C. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the immediate Past Chair of its Litigation Practice Group. He received his law degree from the University of Minnesota School of Law and his college degree from Macalester College. He also attended the East China School of Law and Politics in Shanghai.

Grant's practice focuses on representing clients in Wisconsin and throughout the country in complex business and health care disputes. He also devotes a portion of his practice to arts and entertainment law, with an emphasis on the music industry. He is a frequent speaker around the country on litigation, health care and constitutional law issues.

Grant is the Co-Chair of the American Bar Fellows for the State of Wisconsin. He served many terms as one of Wisconsin's Delegates to the ABA House Delegates (1997-2000; 2003-09; 2014-20). He also served as ABA Wisconsin Membership Co-Chair and as Co-Chair of the ABA Section of Litigation Health Law Litigation Committee and was the long time Editor of its Health Law Litigation Newsletter. He is the Co-Editor of the Meritas Law Firms Worldwide's Healthcare Newsletter. He is a Life Fellow with the American Bar Foundation and a Fellow with the Wisconsin Law Foundation. He served as a Director of the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association (1992-2000).

Grant also is a Steering Committee Member and DJ for WMSE Radio, 91.7 FM, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a Director of North Point Lighthouse Friends, Inc.
