The Law Practice Division has had a busy year to date. Our new bar year kicked off with a return to in-person meetings for our Fall Meeting in San Antonio. It was a fantastic way to start our year. Our committees planned out their bar year, contributions to our Division content, and how to better serve and engage our membership, now over 22,000 strong. It was a great reminder of the value of face-to-face collaboration but also helped us to establish creative ways to work together with virtual participation, too. We have learned a great deal these last two years, but it is not without continually practicing being creative and adaptable. Our Fall Meeting gave us lots to look forward to for the ABA Midyear Meeting, in Seattle.
For the Midyear Meeting, LP puts a tremendous amount of focus on content creation and supporting our delivery boards that work tirelessly to produce content in all the formats you have come to expect and depend on. This includes our magazine, webzine, book publishing program, professional development (CLE) and legal technology. Our Midyear Meeting is an exciting time for our boards to check in with each other and continue the work of their offerings for the second half of the bar year. It’s also one of our last opportunities to check in with one another before LP’s marquee event of the year, ABA TECHSHOW.
ABA TECHSHOW took place March 2–5, 2022. The conference once again brought together lawyers, legal professionals and legal technology leaders. Attendees were able to learn about the most useful and practical technologies available to help them maintain, grow and advance their practices for tomorrow and beyond. If you weren’t able to make this year’s show it’s a great time to block off your calendar to attend ABA TECHSHOW 2023, which will take place March 1–4, 2023. It’s now time to get ready for our Spring Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee, May 11–14, 2022. We are especially excited to be visiting the home state of our current chair, Heidi A. Barcus, and offering more meeting options than ever before. This includes our coveted Women of Legal Tech Summit. The Women of Legal Tech Summit is a symposium dedicated to closing the legal tech gender gap. For more information about this year’s Women of Legal Tech Summit and to learn more about the honorees, please visit www.womenoflegal.tech.
We have passed the halfway point of the bar year and embark on our third and fourth quarters of serving our members. While the first half of the year was filled with successes and offered a lot, we are excited about what is still to come. If you haven’t actively participated in an in-person LP meeting before, consider Nashville this May. We hope to see you there!
