The 2020 TECHSHOW issue is my third issue as editor-in-chief of Law Practice. When I agreed to take on this role, I did so because I knew that I had an amazing team of people to help make this magazine happen. I knew that without an effective team, I would never be able to pursue the mission of the magazine in the way I envisioned. Our team currently includes a board of volunteers who dedicate numerous hours, energy and passion to our publication, a publisher who goes the extra mile, a marketing organization that supports us in many ways in improving our product and an absolutely phenomenal staff at the ABA.
As we were finalizing our Leadership issue late last summer, I received news that our long-time copy editor, John Fallahay, had been hospitalized. On Sept. 9, 2019, I received the sad news that John had passed away the night before. It was one of those moments that I will long remember where I was and how I felt when that email landed in my inbox. John had been an integral part of the magazine for most of the time that I had been involved. I came to rely on John in many ways in the various roles that I have served in with respect to Law Practice.
The ABA Magazine Board has chosen to dedicate this issue to John Fallahay to express our gratitude for his years of service and his contributions. Several of our board members, columnists and features authors worked with John for many years. The outpouring of sadness and support expressed in the emails I received after passing on the news of John’s death was a tribute to all that John Fallahay brought to the magazine and to those of us who worked with him.
