Meet Our Summer 2022 Interns

George Shalloway finished his first year of law school at the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law in Baltimore, Maryland this May. He is excited to join COLA to learn more about guardianship and elder law while working on the Guardianship Legislative Review and the Emeritus Practice Rules update. George graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, Cum Laude in 2020. While in college, George majored in Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Maggie Roberts just finished her first year at Georgetown Law and is very interested in the intersection of aging, domestic violence, and the law. While at the Commission, Maggie will be working on a state-by-state chart of supported decision-making statutes. Before law school, Maggie worked at a domestic violence agency in Rhode Island for almost a year. She plans to spend her legal career in this field.

Noah Austin is an undergraduate going into his sophomore year at American University. He is double majoring in Political Science and Justice and Law. As an intern, he is researching the rights and accommodations available for those with disabilities while voting in each state. When finished, the information will be compiled into a guide so it can be more easily accessed by those who need it.
