EBC Members Reach Out to Law Students During Recent Midwinter Meeting

John R. Harney

During the 2024 Midwinter Meeting in San Diego, two groups of EBC lawyers visited two local California law schools to discuss careers in Employee Benefits Law continuing a tradition for the Employee Benefits Committee Midwinter Meeting.

EBC Co-Chairs Marie Casciari and Bruce Perlin, together with Ivelisse Berio LeBeau, Yolanda Montgomery and Radha Pathak, EBC Planning Committee Co-Chair and California Western School of Law Adjunct Professor, spoke to several law students at California Western School of Law about their careers in various sectors of Employee Benefits. Taking advantage of the student discount to attend the EBC Midwinter meeting, California Western School of Law student Ayham Dahlan attended the Midwinter Meeting and networked with EBC members about our unique area of the law.

The EBC’s Law School Student Outreach Program introduces law students to the wide variety of work within the broad umbrella of Employee Benefits Law. Bringing together practitioners from government, employer, union and fund perspectives, the Outreach Program provides a diversity of knowledge and experience about potential careers in Employee Benefits.

The EBC wants to thank Becky Levine, Interim Director of Career and Professional Development at the University of San Diego Law School and John McKee, Assistant Dean of Career and Professional Development at California Western School of Law, for their invaluable assistance in working with the EBC to put on our Law Student Outreach programs. We also want to acknowledge the assistance and participation of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, Inc., which worked with the EBC in this joint effort.
