Barbara B. Brown, a senior partner with Paul Hastings LLP in Washington, D.C. has been practicing labor and employment law for 36 years and became a Section member in 1981. Ms. Brown represents employers in the entire range of employment law matters, including: employment discrimination class actions challenging pay, promotion, hiring and other personnel decisions; whistleblower retaliation cases, wage and hour class actions; sexual harassment investigations and more. She decided to join the Section after realizing that within her area of practice, the network and practitioners she wanted to interact with were spread throughout the country and Section activities were a great avenue via which she could connect with them. Membership in the ABA has allowed her to learn from them and create a personal network. Barbara has remained an active member because she really enjoys the camaraderie, the great CLE, and the various other projects that the Section has undertaken. Ms. Brown has served in a number of leadership roles and has found it to be truly gratifying to have served as a chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee, several administrative committees, and then ultimately the Section. This self-described “driven” lawyer is a great member to get to know.
