M. Tae Phillips, an Employer/Management lawyer with Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. in Birmingham, Alabama has been practicing labor and employment law since 2009 and has been a Section member for 4 years. A significant portion of Tae’s practice consists of employment litigation, as he regularly defends clients before federal and state courts and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, co-employee liability, and wrongful discharge, as well as claims asserted under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Mr. Phillips joined the Section of Labor and Employment Law to assist in his professional development as a lawyer, not only from a business development standpoint, but also from a practical and legal skills perspective. He has remained an active member because he enjoys the community and social aspect of the section, which includes being able to speak to many other individuals who share the same "daily life" as himself. This self-described “organized” lawyer is a great member to get to know.
