ERR Committee Midwinter Meeting: UPDATE

Dear ERR Committee Midwinter Meeting Registrant -

The ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law has made the difficult decision to cancel this year's Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee Midwinter Meeting, scheduled for March 17-21 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The meeting has been rebooked for March 16-20, 2021 at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, with comparable rates. Hotel and program details will be disseminated in October 2020.

We appreciate your patience as LEL Section Executive Committee and the ERR Committee Co-Chairs have been carefully monitoring this dynamic situation. We will miss seeing all of you in Puerto Rico and deeply regret losing the opportunities for members and other attendees to connect and to share their collective experiences in the midwinter meeting format. Our paramount concern, however, is for the health and safety of our members and their communities as well as the Section’s diversity and inclusion values with respect to providing an inclusive environment to all, including our older and disabled members and attendees.

On behalf of the LEL Section Council, we appreciate the significant contributions made and preparation undertaken by ERR Committee and Subcommittee Co-Chairs and the Midwinter Meeting panelists. We anticipate offering many of the planned Midwinter Meeting programs through CLE webinars over the next few months, so please watch your email for details on alternative programming. Please also look out for our newsletters.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to see you at the 13th Annual Labor & Employment Law Conference at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on November 11-14, 2020. In the meantime, take good care of yourself, your family and your local community. Please note the following protocols and feel free to let us know what our Section might do to assist you during this challenging period.

REFUNDS

Program: Cancellations for the ERR Midwinter Meeting will automatically be processed, and refunds will be credited to you within the next two weeks using your original form of payment. For questions, contact the ABA Service Center at [email protected] or (800) 285-2221 [International (312) 988-5000].

Hotel: Please note that the hotel has cancelled all reservations that were made within the ABA room block. If you made your reservation outside of the ABA room block, contact the hotel at 787.791-1000 to cancel your reservation. If you would like to stay at the Fairmont El San Juan Hotel next week as planned even though the meeting has been cancelled, call the hotel at 787-791-1000 to make a new reservation. The hotel will offer rooms at 25% off the best available rates - which likely will be lower than our original group rates.

Airlines: Please note that flight reservations must be cancelled by the individual who booked the reservation. It is up to the individual airlines if they will waive change fees or issue credits for the entirety of tickets.

Sincerely,
