We are glad to invite you to Phoenix to attend the 2017 Workers’ Compensation Midwinter Seminar and Conference, co-sponsored by the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section and the Section of Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association. We hope to see you March 16th through March 18th at the Point Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort, a wonderful property that will provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy resort activities to complement our terrific continuing education program. New this year is the Inaugural College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyer’s symposium on Saturday morning the 18th. We hope that you will attend the entire program to take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from and network with judiciary, industry experts, medical professionals, and defense and plaintiff attorneys. It is opportunity you won’t want to miss!
Topics for the seminar kick off with a Keynote Speech by Bob Wilson, President & CEO Workers’ Compensation.com who will inspire us with his sense of humor and thoughtfulness to think about topics affecting the industry in general as he sees them as a workers’ compensation information specialist. His talk will be followed by a physician’s take on Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, Post-Concussion Syndrome and Malingering. A presentation on the constitutional and practical implications impacting limitation on attorney fees will follow, as well as an OSHA update. Federalization of Workers’ Compensation will be discussed on Friday, followed by a presentation on Objective Diagnostic Testing by a physician panel. Breakout sessions on Defending Undocumented Worker Claims, and Developments in Medical and Recreational Marijuana will end the day on Friday. The College’s symposium will start and end the day on Saturday morning, leading to a free afternoon.
After the program on Thursday we will have a First Time Attendee Welcome Reception, followed by a Diversity Reception. There will be a Networking Reception Friday evening following the program for all registered attendees and their registered guests. The College’s 2017 Induction Dinner will be held Saturday evening, and is a separately ticketed event.
Please look over the brochure for a more thorough review of the program, and register as soon as possible to reserve your spot. 2017 no doubt will be a year of change in workers’ compensation and the broader regulatory realm. We can all benefit from taking advantage of the conference to best position ourselves for the upcoming year. Your presence will ensure that we will have a lively and informative program, a chance to exchange ideas with one another, and perhaps a glass of cheer!
