The Labor and Employment Law Section sponsors awards and fellowships to recognize significant contributions and achievements in advancing the profession.
Labor and Employment Law Section Awards
Honoring exceptional individuals, firms, corporations, organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions.
Arvid Anderson Public Sector Award
Attorneys, whether publicly or privately employed, who have devoted substantially their entire careers to the advancement and development of public sector labor and employment law at the state and local level are eligible to receive the Arvid Anderson Award.
Honorable Bernice B. Donald Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Legal Profession Award
This award recognizes an ABA Labor and Employment Law Section member, law firm, corporation, organization, or academic institution that has demonstrated leadership in and commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the legal profession.
Federal Labor & Employment Law Attorney of the Year Award
The prestigious Federal Labor and Employment Law Attorney of the Year Award salutes federal labor and employment lawyers and their many accomplishments. Any career attorney who has made a significant contribution to the field is eligible for nomination.
Frances Perkins Public Service Award
The Frances Perkins Award recognizes individuals, firms, nonprofits, corporate and union legal departments, government agencies, and other organizations that meet the crucial need for pro bono legal services in the area of labor and employment law.
Section of Labor and Employment Law New/Young Lawyer Award
The New/Young Lawyer Award recognizes up to two new and/or young members of the ABA Labor and Employment Law Section who have demonstrated a commitment to the Section and the advancement of its initiatives, specifically membership and engagement.
Government Fellowship Program
The Government Fellowship Program provides an opportunity to participate in the Section and to receive the appropriate support. Government agencies are encouraged to identify individuals of excellence who are also ABA Labor and Employment Law Section members.
Section Development Fund Fellowship Program
The Section Development Fund Fellowship Program encourages membership and participation in the Annual Section Conference and Standing Committee Midwinter Meetings by providing fellowships to individuals who would otherwise be financially unable to participate.
Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Fellowship Program
The Young Lawyers Division Fellowship Program gives young lawyers who are Section members the opportunity to become familiar with and actively involved in the Section. Fellows receive an allocation to cover Midwinter Meeting travel and registration expenses.
