As this new year begins, I want to thank each one of you who recently participated in the ABA’s Giving Day. Your contributions support a wide variety of Judicial Division programming, including the programming that the National Conference of Specialized Court Judges (NCSCJ) hosts. These opportunities to learn and grow are only possible in our conference with its 300 diverse members who make up NCSCJ. What’s great is that NCSCJ has so many different types of judges with different experiences and backgrounds so if there is a topic you want to learn more about, we probably have a conference member who knows the answer and is available to consult with you. We also have judges who are willing and able to provide your court with training so do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] so I can connect you with an expert!

So far this year, we partnered with the YLD and Law Student Divisions to host a “Pathways to the Bench” webinar which highlighted the different processes to become a local, state and federal judge. We are also planning a CLE with the National Judicial College on Driving Under the Influence and Marijuana tentatively scheduled for February 5th, 2025, 12pm eastern.
Finally, next month at the Midyear Meeting in Pheonix, we invite you to register and join us because our conference members will have a unique opportunity to visit Gila River Tribal Court to learn how their court programs are tailored made to benefit the Gila River community. If you have never attended an ABA Midyear Meeting, we would love to have you join us! The Midyear Meeting is always free to attend and hosts the Judicial Division’s signature Judicial Clerkship Program which pairs judges with law students to collaborate, write legal memorandum and mentor up and coming lawyers. There will be networking, CLEs and community outreach opportunities. Hope to see you there!
