Reginald Mathews grew up as one of five children in a single parent home in North Chicago, Illinois. Inspired by his mother and community mentors he went to college, became a probation officer, attended law school and after graduation spent 17-years as an Assistant State’s Attorney, heading up the gang and narcotics section before he became a judge in 2018. Judge Mathews is also a youth minister at his church who spends dozens of hours each month working to keep young people from becoming the wrong kind of statistic. Judge Mathews joins host Judge Richard Ginkowski to discuss how his faith makes him a better judge and the importance of community involvement and mentoring.
