NCALJ Judicial Division Vice-Chair Election

Every six years, NCALJ is asked to make a recommendation of a nominee to serve as Judicial Division Vice-Chair.  Pursuant to the NCALJ Policy for Election of JD Vice-Chair, NCALJ shall conduct an election for the purpose of selecting a nominee to be recommended to the Nominating Committee of the Judicial Division for the position of Vice-Chair of the Judicial Division for the term commencing at the close of the subsequent year’s Annual Meeting.

The election will occur on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 2:15pm Central at the NCALJ Meeting during the 2020 ABA Virtual Annual Meeting.  The election will be by secret ballot by all NCALJ members in good standing in attendance.  Please note, you must register for the Annual Meeting to access the NCALJ Meeting.  Registration is complimentary for members.

NCALJ had an open nomination period from April 3 through June 15, 2020. The following nominations were received. Please click on each candidate to review their statement of interest and resume.

Judge H. Alexander Manuel was a candidate in the election but has since withdrawn his nomination.

Candidates will be given the opportunity to provide a presentation, not to exceed 5 minutes in length, to the membership in attendance.  The prevailing candidate shall be the candidate receiving 50% or more of the votes cast by NCALJ members in good standing in attendance.

Initial Call for Nominations Notice

Every six years, NCALJ is asked to make a recommendation of a nominee to serve as Judicial Division Vice-Chair.  Pursuant to the NCALJ Policy for Election of JD Vice-Chair, NCALJ shall conduct an election for the purpose of selecting a nominee to be recommended to the Nominating Committee of the Judicial Division for the position of Vice-Chair of the Judicial Division for the term commencing at the close of the subsequent year’s Annual Meeting.

The election will be held at the 2020 Annual Meeting for a one-year term commencing at the close of the 2021 Annual Meeting.  The JD Vice-Chair shall automatically succeed to the Chair-Elect position for the following year, and ultimately to the position of Chair of the Judicial Division for 2023-2024.

NCALJ members interested in being nominated to serve in this position may submit a resume and statement of interest, including a description of how you would advance and promote the missions of the Conference and the Judicial Division, to julianna.peacock@americanbar.org by no later than Monday, June 15, 2020.
