As attorneys, we all have obligations to our clients that are unique to our profession. We have a special duty that is innate to our profession and clients. However, the Immigration landscape in the United States has a unique case that takes professionalism and our duties to the profession to a whole other level.
This panel discusses the history of Lozada and how it damaged the fabric of immigration practice, the Rivera dissent, and what opportunities are now afforded, and a dynamic discussion of the ethics rules will be discussed. Specifically, the Model Rules of Professional Conduct will be discussed: Rule 1.1 to 1.4, 1.7, and 1.9.
