Comparative Legal Exchange Program Gains Grounds for Women's Land Rights

By Tzili Mor and Juan Chu

Despite vastly different geographies, socio-cultural con texts, and legal regimes, each year for the past five years, practitioners from Asia and sub-Sahara Africa have gained common ground and comparative expertise to advance the land rights of women nationally, regionally, and globally. The Women’s Land Rights Visiting Professionals Program (VPP) was launched in 2012 by the Landesa Center for Women’s Land Rights, an initiative of the Rural Development Institute. Landesa is a leading international non-governmental organization founded 50 years ago committed to the power of land rights as a pathway to eliminate extreme poverty, reduce conflict, and build more gender-equal and just societies.
