To commemorate the Centennial of the 19th Amendment, which granted many women in the US the right to vote, the ABA International Law Section, in partnership with LexisNexis and The International Foundation for Electoral Services, have compiled interviews with women around the world to share with us what the right to vote means to them. Excerpts of these poignant videos have been assembled into a “mini documentary.” In conjunction with the video’s release, the Section hosted a webinar to distill what the stories the women in the videos tell us in terms of the state of women’s right to vote around the world, what still needs to be accomplished to enfranchise all women internationally, and what we as lawyers, as individuals, and as a bar association, can do to continue to make progress in this critical area.
