It seems like only yesterday that I greeted you as your new chair. And it truly seems closer than many years ago that I was a law student member of the Section.
The Section’s 32nd Annual Intellectual Property Law Conference in April reminded me of how special our annual conferences are—welcoming gatherings where every year you can receive the best in programming and presenters while earning CLE accreditation. As I have heard time and again, our conference is exceptional with sessions and speakers that set the curve, a buzz of enthusiastic attendees, and networking opportunities that allow productive meeting and mingling with the experts in the profession. Our impressive international attendee group this year was emblematic of our expanded global reach and influence. We greeted old and new friends and colleagues from 17 different nations: Turkey, UK, Venezuela, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, China, Taiwan, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Ecuador, India, Mexico, France, Chile, and Myanmar.
This coming association year we invite all of you to join us at a new forum from the Section on October 11 and 12 in Long Beach, California. IP WEST will be an exciting two days where you will hear from the experts about the latest developments on current issues in IP Law—all while earning CLE credit.
As I hand the gavel to our incoming Chair Scott Partridge, I am sincerely grateful to have had the opportunity to lead this Section. I look forward to continuing to fulfill our mission for the profession and the practice, to participating with you in our work and activities, and to seeing many of you at our conferences and forums.
