IoT Big Data: Consumer Wearables, Data Privacy and Security

The benefits wearables pose to consumers are considerable. The wearables market, however, contains certain imperfections that lead to data privacy and security risks. This article explores the infrastructure and technological features supporting wearables, the specific data privacy and security concerns wearables pose in the United States, and the idea that policymakers should address the data privacy and security concerns posed by wearables because consumers and businesses are unlikely to do so.
