Navigating FOSS: How Companies are Addressing Legal Issues Associated with Free and Open Source Software

Recorded August 16, 2018

Hosted by the ABA-IPL In-House Committee

Free and Open Source Software ("FOSS") can provide a powerful tool in software development by preventing the proverbial "reinventing the wheel" in coding and providing great flexibility in developing, improving and combining the FOSS code with other software.  However, the licenses governing use and distribution of FOSS can be tricky, resulting in a higher risk of breach of the license terms, copyright infringement, and potential risk to proprietary code when combined with FOSS.

Join us for this webinar featuring in-house counsel from companies that vary in their use and preparation of software involving FOSS.

Expert In-house counsel from AT&T, Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins, and Whirlpool will provide their insightful perspectives on the legal issues involving FOSS and will share best practices in navigating FOSS issues, while still maintaining proprietary value aspects in their code.
