2017 IPLSPRING Conference Information

You are encouraged to make your airline reservations on the ABA Online Travel site where you automatically receive airfare discounts from a variety of carriers.

The deadline for receipt of early registration, at the early registration rate, is March 15, 2017. Registration will only be accepted when accompanied by a credit card number (Visa, MasterCard or American Express only). Checks, money orders, or government purchase orders or training forms may also be used when submitting a printed copy of the registration form via mail. No registration can be held without payment.
Registration and check-in will be available onsite, the schedule is as follows:

Thursday, April 6 7:30 am – 5:00 pm

Onsite registrations will be accepted only when accompanied by a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express only), check, money order, or government purchase order or training form. Late registration fees will be in effect for onsite registrations.
Confirmation of registration will be sent via e-mail in advance of the program for all registrations received prior to March 15.

Note: The cutoff date for the room block is Tuesday, March 14, 2017. But do not wait until the March 14th cutoff date, as the room block and the hotel fill up quickly. After this date, reservations can be made on a space available basis only. The ABA will not be able to secure a room for you.

The ABA directly applies for and ordinarily receives CLE credit for ABA programs in AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DE, GA, GU, HI, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NH, NM, NV, NY, NC, ND, OH, OK, OR, PA, PR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, VI, WA, WI, and WV. These states sometimes do not approve a program for credit before the program occurs. This course is expected to qualify for 12.0 CLE credit hours (including 1.5 ethics hours) in 60-minute states, and 14.4 credit hours (including 1.8 ethics hours) in 50-minute states. This transitional program is approved for both newly admitted and experienced attorneys in NY. Attorneys may be eligible to receive CLE credit through reciprocity or attorney self-submission in other states. Course Materials Available

Course materials are made available for viewing by conference registrants in advance of the conference on the Section website and the conference app.

Special Tuition Assistance

A limited number of registration fee reductions are available for government employees, academics, law students, and public interest lawyers employed with nonprofit organizations. No full tuition waivers are available. The fee-reductions will be determined on a one-time only, case-by-case, first-come first-serve basis. To apply, send a letter outlining the basis for your request of a fee reduction to Michael Kesler, Program Associate, ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law, 321 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60654 or michael.kesler@americanbar.org. Deadline for receipt: March 15, 2017. No cases will be considered after the deadline, and all standard registration fee rates will apply after March 15.Scholarships to defray tuition expense for Section of Intellectual Property programs are available upon application on a program-by-program, case-by-case basis. Preference will be given to public interest lawyers, government lawyers, full-time law professors, solo or small firm practitioners of limited means, and unemployed attorneys. Click here for more information and to complete a scholarship request for a specific program. Scholarship applications must be received at least two weeks before the program start date. You will be notified prior to the program if your application is approved. A minimum fee may be charged on all approved scholarship applications to defray expenses. For programs with tuition costs over $500, qualifying attorneys will receive at least a 50% reduction in the course fee(s).
Registrants who are unable to attend the conference will receive a refund less a $100 administrative fee if a written cancellation is received by March 15, 2017. Cancellation requests should be e-mailed to Michael Kesler at michael.kesler@americanbar.org. (The administrative fee for cancellation is $50 for Corporate Counsel, Law Student, and Government and Public Sector fee categories.) No refunds will be granted after March 15, 2017. Vouchers for future programs will not be provided. Proxy substitutions are acceptable. The ABA reserves the right to cancel any program and assumes no responsibility for personal expenses.

Photograph/Video/Recordings Release

In order to promote, share and archive American Bar Association ("ABA") programs, meetings and events ("Events"), photographs, videos and/or recordings may be taken at such events by registering for and attending the Events. I consent to be included in the photographs, videos and/ or recordings. I hereby irrevocably consent to and grant ABA and its agents, representatives and licensees, all rights to use and publish for promotional and internal purposes in all media, now known or hereafter developed, my name, statements, quotes, biographical data provided by me to ABA, image, likeness or voice, in whole or in part, and to copyright any materials created. I hereby waive any right to inspect, approve, or be compensated for use of any materials incorporating such images and information obtained during the Events. I release ABA and its agents, representatives and licensees from all liabilities arising out of any use of my likeness and information as provided above. I understand and agree that any and all negatives, digital images, and recordings of my likeness, regardless of form, are and shall remain property of ABA.

In accordance with the American Bar Association policy, all ABA programs are open to media unless they are to conduct business sessions of a confidential nature.
