Message From The Division Chair
The Specialized IP Division comprises nine committees focused on areas of intellectual property distinct from, auxiliary to, or a mix or extension of the traditional disciplines of patents, trademarks and copyright. These include trade secret law that Congress added in 2016 as a federal civil cause of action to join the traditional disciplines, rights to publicity and information technology, among which are being examined contemporary claims to information privacy and proprietary interests. The antitrust, IP transactions and licensing and monetization and valuation committees are concerned with contractual and other arrangements and investments in IP. IP issues of particular industries are addressed by the design, digital games and new media and promotion and marketing law committees.
