Editor’s Column

By Charles Patrizia

Some time ago, the editors of Infrastructure asked Dave Poe to send us his reflections on the practice of law generally and public utility law in particular. Dave’s comments appear on page 14. No one better demonstrates the concept of service than Dave. He has been indefatigible in donating his time, energy, and considerable talents to both the Section and the ABA at large as Section Chair, member of the ABA Board of Governors, and member of the ABA House of Delegates. He has served and continues to serve on various Section committees, including the Long-Range Planning Committee, Communications Committee, Writing Competition Committee, and CLE Meetings & Programs Committee. Committee service is critically important to the lifeblood of any organization and often involves hours of work and commitment that unfortunately may not be recognized enough. But as Dave states, “I have been able to meet and work with a number of people I would not have known otherwise, some of whom became clients, and, rising through leadership positions, I was able to increase my own professional profile. That is hardly to mention the many wonderful friendships that resulted from these activities, for which I am immensely grateful.”
