Program Officer

Lian Najjar

Originally from Syria, Ms. Najjar joined ABA Justice Defenders Program in June 2020. As a Program Officer, Ms. Najjar provides the JD team with operational and programmatic support.  Before joining CHR, Ms. Najjar gained immense regional experience  in capacity building and civil engagement at PartnersGlobal, where she focused on stabilization projects in Yemen. She also interned at a variety of  nongovernmental organizations, including the Jerusalem Fund, Bank Information Center (BIC) and Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS).  Ms. Najjar received her BA in International Affairs and Political Science at the George Washington University, and her MSc in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies at the London School of Economics. At the LSE, she was awarded the Best Dissertation Prize for her thesis titled: “Water to War: an Analysis of Drought, Water Scarcity and Social Mobilization in Syria.”
