About the Prize
With the blessing of the Roosevelt family, in 2018, the Center for Human Rights established the annual Eleanor Roosevelt Prize for Global Human Rights Advancement to recognize persons and organizations having a positive, enduring, and global impact in advancing the principles set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which Eleanor Roosevelt championed.

The Center celebrated Human Rights First, for decades of effective national and global advocacy, Professor Ved Nanda (posthumously), who trained and nurtured countless human rights advocates over a 50-year teaching career, and Ambassador David Scheffer, a true icon of international criminal justice.
