California Venue Froze Out Takers of Bar Exam, Potentially Affecting Performance, Especially of Women

The ABA Journal reported that bar exam test takers could see their breath at Daly City, California’s Cow Palace on February 27, 2024, raising concern that their performance was affected. Since recent research indicates female college students’ scores increase measurably for each one-degree in temperature, while male college students’ scores tended to decrease at a similar rate, in a temperature range of 60 to 90°F, women’s performance may have been disproportionately affected by test conditions.
