Physician Fined $25K Over Supervision of DNP Who Called Herself 'Doctor'

In November 2023, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) was fined just under $20,000 for violating the California Business and Professions Code by using the title “Doctor” when promoting herself on various social media platforms. In another liability concern for supervising physicians, the DNP’s supervising physician was fined $25,000 for failure to adequately supervise and collaborate with a nurse practitioner according to the terms of their agreement.
