Ohio Woman Charged with Felony After Miscarriage Speaks Out After Her Arrest

After the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade and the federal right to an abortion, a multitude of state trigger laws went into effect across the United States placing restrictions on abortion. These laws can seriously impact women who experience miscarriages. Much like Brittany Watts’s story, there is little to no regulation or guidance addressing what women in these situations should do or how the hospital is to handle the reporting of these situations. Ultimately, an Ohio grand jury decided not to indict Brittany Watts; however, whether the floodgates have opened to this type of litigation, whether criminal or civil, is yet to be determined.
