New Jersey Bar No Longer Requires Bar Candidates to Provide Details of Rape for Disclosed Civil Proceedings.

After Equal Rights Advocates, a nonprofit that advocates for women’s rights, raised the issue, and journalists further inquired, the New Jersey Bar has announced that candidates who disclose on the bar’s character fitness questionnaire that they have filed petitions for protection from abuse, restraining orders or Title IX actions, do not have to provide a description or documentation — only the case caption and the outcome.
