Law Schools Remain Concerned About Achieving Diverse Student Body, Fear Streak of More Diverse Recent Classes Will End

The ABA Journal reported that recent surveys of law school administrators reflect somewhat less alarm about achieving a diverse law school body when compared with immediately after issuance of the Supreme Court’s June 2023 Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. Harvard College decision that held that racial preferences in school admissions violate the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. Yet, while recent law school classes reflect higher enrollment for students of color, administrators expect that trend to end as recruiting continues post-decision.
