According to the latest update from the Kaiser Family Foundation Medicaid Enrollment and Unwinding Tracker, as of April 19, 2024, more than 20 million Medicaid beneficiaries have been disenrolled, while 44.4 million have had their coverage renewed. Disenrollment rates vary among states, with Utah at 57 percent and Maine at 12 percent, with procedural disenrollments making up 69 percent of all disenrollments.
A recent national survey conducted by KFF reveals that among those who were disenrolled, 70 percent experienced either temporary or extended periods without coverage. Of these, 47 percent successfully re-enrolled in Medicaid, while 28 percent secured alternative insurance options.
