Alabama Nursing Homes May Receive $100 for COVID Costs

In a special session earlier this month, the Alabama legislature passed a bill allocating the final $1 billion the state received from American Rescue Plan money, and Governor Ivey immediately signed it into law.  In part, the law allocates to Alabama hospitals and nursing homes $100 million each to help cover COVID costs. John Matson, with the Alabama Nursing Home Association, told local reporters that nursing homes are still testing regularly for COVID, using a lot of PPE, and some have even "modified their buildings so they can create isolation units and care for individuals who are COVID-positive."
