U.S.-Indian Cancer Collaboration Announced Following State Visit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a four-day state visit to the U.S. on June 23, 2023.  Among numerous other agreements and collaborations, the two countries announced a collaboration between U.S. and Indian scientists for developing an AI-enabled digital pathology platform to assist clinicians with determining cancer diagnoses and prognoses and with providing radiation therapy treatments of cancers of the head, neck, and cervix.  The collaboration will be funded by new grants from the U.S. National Cancer Institute.  The two countries also committed to bringing together experts and government officials for a U.S.-India Cancer Dialogue to brainstorm further areas of collaboration to prevent, detect, and treat cancer.  The White House Cancer Moonshot concurrently announced a number of new collaborations between U.S. private sector and Indian companies to improve screening and prevention, research, workforce, and education.
