The HHS Office for Civil Rights (OCR) announced a settlement with Manasa Health Center, LLC, a New Jersey provider of adult and child psychiatric services. The settlement resolved a complaint that the NJ provider disclosed a patient’s protected health information when Manasa posted a response to a negative online review.
OCR’s investigation also found similar violations of the HIPAA Privacy Rule in online posts responding to negative reviews from three other patients. As part of the resolution and implementation of a corrective action plan, Manasa Health Center paid OCR $30,000.
