On June 14, 2023, HHS announced an almost $9 million award to strengthen mental health and substance use provider availability in rural and underserved communities. The funds were awarded by HRSA to 20 grantees via the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Training program, to be used in training non-physician providers to furnish mental health and substance use disorder services in settings that integrate the mental health and substance use disorder services with primary care. The funding joins more than $800 million invested through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.
