Senator Warns Big Law to Back Off Diversity Efforts

On July 17, Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas sent letters to 51 national and global law firms warning that  their diversity efforts and those of their clients may be illegal based on the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard.  Meanwhile, a 2023 University of Michigan law review article proposes the use of AI in hiring in order to promote diversity at law firms by means other than affirmative action hiring, by eliminating bias against disadvantaged groups.
