The Moving Forward Nursing Home Quality Coalition was formed in early 2022 in response to an April 2022 nursing home quality report issued by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine. The Coalition comprises nursing home residents, family members or care partners, health care providers, policy leaders, and advocates. On December 2, 2022, the Coalition released its first set of recommendations to improve nursing home residents’ quality of life both short and long term. The Coalition prioritized four areas: enhancing nursing home capacity, including improving technology and staffing; strengthening nursing homes; accountability; improving compensation for and retention of care providers; and assuring the full and proper financing of person-centered care, delivery of quality care, and effective oversight.
