Chicago Man Convicted of Participating in Kickback Scheme Involving DME Pharmacy

On January 20, 2023, a federal jury convicted Mark Sorensen of Chicago, Illinois on three counts of paying illegal kickbacks and one count of conspiracy. The conspiracy involved buying patient leads from others by paying approximately $25 million in illegal kickbacks and submitting claims to federal health care benefit programs for DME pharmacy services. Each count carries a five-year maximum prison sentence for a total maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The sentencing date has not been announced.
