Before leaving the Nation’s capital for its August recess, Congress enacted and sent to the President for his signature a bill (H.R. 2544) to reform the U.S. organ transplant system. 

NBC News and STAT News let us know that both Houses of Congress are preparing legislation to hopefully solve the Nation’s widespread drug shortages.

When Congress returns to legislative business after Labor Day, it will have a short period to continue appropriations into the new federal fiscal year which begins on October 1, 2022.

In surprising regulatory development on July 27, the American Hospital Association today joined AHIP, the American Medical Association, and Blue Cross Blue Shield Association in urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services not to implement its proposed HIPAA prior authorization standards for claims attachments due to conflicting regulatory proposals, which “would create the very same costly burdens” that administrative simplification seeks to alleviate.”
