Arkansas legislators gave final approval on a bill that would ban the farming, manufacturing, or selling of certain cannabinoids that mirror the effects of THC. The ban specifically applies to delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, or “Delta-8,” which is a synthetic THC. This bill would modify Arkansas’ industrial hemp programs to prohibit any cannabinoids that provide the same high as marijuana, although cultivating hemp for industrial use would still be protected. The Arkansas House of Representatives approved the bill with an 82-4 vote, and the Arkansas Senate approved it with a 30-1 vote. The bill now goes to the Arkansas Governor, who is expected to sign it.
