Report Finds That Nearly 5,000 Hospitals and 80 Carriers Have Published Negotiated Rates

The Hospital Price Transparency Rule, which went into effect January 1, 2021, and the Transparency in Coverage Rule, which went into effect July 1, 2022, require hospitals and payers throughout the nation to publicly post their negotiated rates. Turquoise Health, a healthcare technology company, recently published its Price Transparency Impact Report. Although the report estimates that industry-wide adoption of the initial phase of price transparency requirements could take up to five years, it found that nearly 5,000 hospitals and 80 insurance carriers have so far publicly posted their negotiated rates, representing a majority of covered lives in the U.S.
